Job Overview: CNC Plasma Operator

Candidate will be assigned to operate and set up conventional or numerical control (CNC) machines to fabricate parts, applying knowledge of shop math, machinability of materials and drawings.

Starting Pay: $20.00 – $32.00 /hour

*Based on experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / SKILLS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read blue prints and determine measurements to the 16th
  • Ability to run overhead crane and safely operate machines
  • Know weight of cut part and determine weight of raw material components in order to transition material in a safe manner
  • Basic computer knowledge of Window type operating system
  • Perform daily operational checks and perform cleanup at beginning and end of shifts
  • Make minor adjustments to programs
  • Ability to meet production schedule
  • Download programs via disc, flash drive or direct connect
  • Perform cuts and required nesting as defined by production
  • Knowledge of MDI and shape library
  • Accurate completion of production and Quality Control sheets
  • Accurate completion of work order based on production schedule
  • Ability to read operator’s book and make appropriate parts correctly
  • Change all parts in torch head
  • Record progress in job book
  • Ensure all workers are properly trained and adhering to safety specifications
  • Troubleshoot Plasma to Operators level

Plasma Operator I

  • Above Essential Duties
  • Ability to confirm dimension of X – plates and to locate material according to engineering logistics
  • Ability to stage and control movement of material flow in shop
  • Ability to program machine to engineering specifications
  • Extensive knowledge of operator’s manual
  • Prepare recommendations to modify processes to improve productivity and quality
  • Demonstrate leaderships skills by leading and managing a work-cell operation
  • Demonstrated Knowledge with Plasma experience at Heartland Fabrication

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Environment is that of a heavy industrial work site
  • Outdoor elements are a factor
  • Exposure to air particles, such as dust, chemical (paint, oil, gas, diesel fumes) and weld smoke
  • Exposure to loud, penetrating noises in some work areas
  • Proper personal protective equipment is required at all times, such as, steel toed or metatarsal boots, ear plugs/ear muffs, safety glasses, pants, hard hats and possible respirator use

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to read, comprehend and write English at an advanced level
  • Advanced blueprint reading and problem solving skills required
  • Intermediate math skills (fraction/ decimal calculations)
  • Previous work experience in a heavy industrial or construction environment is preferred; however, it is not a requirement
  • Knowledge of various types of construction and or heavy equipment operation preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Starting Pay: $20.00 – $32.00 – hour based on experience.

Job Descriptions

Industrial Electricians

Participate in the construction, installation, modification, maintenance and repairs of electrical appliances, systems, facilities and related electronic controls of varying complexity. Responsible for overall maintenance and repair of equipment, tools and machinery as assigned to the maintenance team by the plant manager or other supervisor as needed

CNC Plasma Operators

Candidate will be assigned to operate and set up conventional or numerical control (NC) machines to fabricate parts, applying knowledge of shop math, machinability of materials and drawings.

Fitter

Measure and layout larger more complex subassemblies typically found at the erection area in shop #5, sterns, rake assembly and rake attachment to barge.

Machine Operator

Candidate will be assigned to operate and set up conventional or numerical control (NC) machines to fabricate parts, applying knowledge of shop math, machinability of materials and drawings.

Industrial Painter

Candidate will be assigned to operate coatings/painting booths on large structures to exact specifications
